Jakarta. WhatsApp, the popular mobile messaging service, is going to introduce long-awaited group voice and video calls, WABetainfo.com reported on Thursday (08/02).

WABetainfo.com, which provides the latest and independent information about the application, is not affiliated with the giant platform.

The new features will be first available on the Android system. The iOS system will follow in the near future. According to WABetainfo, users will be able to have video calls with three participants, while voice calls will be possible for four.

The features will be available in the WhatsApp beta version for Android 2.18.39, but the company has not disclosed when.

WhatsApp is also testing a feature that will allow users to switch from a video call to audio without disconnecting. This will be similar to Facetime for iOS.

WhatsApp, which has 1.5 billion subscribers, was used by 38 percent of Indonesia's 260 million population in 2016, according to market research and business intelligence portal Statista.

In October, WhatAapp launched real-time location sharing.
