Anies and running mate Sandiaga declared victory after quick count results by multiple pollsters.

Following his postelection victory, Sandiaga said in Jakarta on Thursday that he urges all residents to reunite after they were divided into factions during the gubernatorial election.

"No more prejudice, insinuations and mockery. Let us [put aside] the differences and unite for a better Jakarta," Sandiaga said. The deputy governor-elect said he would focus on reconciling with Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Governor Djarot Syaiful Hidayat. "We will work hard to fulfill the promises in our campaigns to Jakarta's residents and one of the starting points is to establish a transitional team with [the sitting] administration," he said. Anies and Sandiaga also said that existing programs will continue, especially the programs that have proved beneficial to the community. "Our goal is to serve the public well, without any discrimination. Civil servants who have performed well will continue to have a job, while those who deviate from our vision to serve the public's [best interests] will be cut off," Sandiaga said. "We are thankful for [Ahok] and Djarot who have paved the way for us to continue to effectively govern," he said.

On Wednesday, at Rumah Kertanegara in South Jakarta, shortly after declaring their victory, Anies said that it was a milestone for him and Sandiaga to set off on a new journey to return justice to Jakartans.

"For us, our journey is just starting. What we have achieved is not only a victory in the election, but a victory to bring back justice to the capital city," Anies said. Anies promised that his administration will remain focused on resolving social justice issues. "Jakarta is the most diverse city in Indonesia, and we are committed to taking care of it, as well as fighting for unity in this city. We want to celebrate unity and diversity at the same time," Anies said. Anies Baswedan and running mate Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno have declared victory after quick count results showed that they received most of the votes in the second round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election on Wednesday (19/04). Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) chairman Prabowo Subianto, who backed Anies and Sandiagio, declared the pair's victory at Rumah Kertanegara in South Jakarta. "Thank God. We just have news that the quick count said Jakarta will have a new governor and deputy governor," Prabowo said. "Anies and Sandi were chosen as candidates at Rumah Kertanegara on Sept. 23 last year, and today they declare their victory at the same place," Prabowo added. "It is my honor to congratulate Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno here. This is a victory for all Jakartans. This is a win for democracy. And for sure, we won't be winning if prominent figures did not support Anies-Sandi." Prabowo also highlighted the need to embrace all parties as they are also Indonesians. "It is clear that we are one nation that lives on the same ship. We must get along with others, all religions, all ethnicities must be one, that's my commitment," the former Army general said. In a more diplomatic way, Anies said this is a milestone for him and Sandiaga to set off on a new journey to return justice to Jakartans. "For us, our journey is just starting. What we have achieved is not only victory in the election, but a victory to bring back justice to the capital city," Anies said. He promised that he and Sandiaga will remain consistent and focus on resolving social justice issues. "Jakarta is the most diverse city in Indonesia, and we are committed to take care of it, as well as fighting for unity in this city. We want to celebrate unity and diversity at the same time," Anies said. He added that he and Sandiaga will remain friends with rivals Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat. Sandiaga echoed this sentiment and said he and Anies will start reconciliation with their rivals right away. "Reconciliation starts today, at this very hour; we will communicate with Basuki and Djarot and asks for their time to have a dialogue," Sandiaga said. Based on the quick count result by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC), Anies and Sandiaga received 58.31 percent of the votes, while rival pair Ahok-Djarot only managed to get 41.69 percent. Another pollster, Cyrus Network, also recorded a landslide win for Anies-Sandiaga at 57.39 percent of the vote, leaving Ahok-Djarot with 42.61 percent. A spokeswoman for the Ahok-Djarot re-election campaign alleges that voters were intimidated at several polling stations in the capital on Wednesday (19/04). The campaign team of incumbent Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said it received reports of voter intimidation at polling stations in several areas, including Duri Kosambi, Duren Sawit, Kebayoran Lama, Kelapa Gading, Kebon Jeruk, Petojo Selatan, Tanah Abang and Lebak Bulus. "The worst instances of coercion occurred in Duri Kosambi, where voters were verbally threatened by supporters of rival pair Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno," Ahok-Djarot campaign spokeswoman Emmy Hafild said during a press conference at the Pullman Hotel in Central Jakarta. Emmy believes the intimidation was targeted only against Ahok-Djarot voters. The campaign team has expressed its appreciation to the National Police for working to foil the so-called Al-Maidah Picnic, a mass demonstration planned by hardline Muslim groups to "monitor" voting at several polling stations. Emmy expressed hope that security personnel will work to resolve all instances of intimidation at the polls. A volunteer group supporting incumbent pair Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat alleges that voters were intimidated at five polling stations in West and North Jakarta on Wednesday (19/04). Raja Juli Antoni, spokesman for the supporters group known as Badja, said several people with "certain attributes" gathered outside polling stations 13, 16, 17 and 24 in the Kamal area of Kalideres, West Jakarta, to allegedly discourage people from voting. A similar action was also reported at polling station 15 in Ancol, North Jakarta "I'm not sure whether it is the Al-Maidah Picnic, but it has caused several voters living in apartments [in Ancol] from going to vote," Raja told the media at the Pullman Hotel in Central Jakarta. However, he did not elaborate on what he meant with term "certain attributes." The so-called Al-Maidah Picnic is a planned mass gathering, initiated by several hardline Muslim groups, that would involve people from outside Jakarta going to polling stations to monitor the voting process. Police have banned any such actions over concern that it may intimidate voters, either physiologically or physically. "We have other reports of alleged violations, but we can't tell you until those reports are verified by our witnesses," Raja added. National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian meanwhile said that he has instructed police chiefs in subdistricts to verify and respond to any reports of intimidation in North and West Jakarta. "I have checked the report of alleged intimidation in Kamal, but it was a pure misunderstanding. It has been handled by our personnel and police swiftly moved to guarantee safety in the area," Tito told reporters. He said the voting process ran smoothly without any major incidents. "There were no significant incidents. We only received reports from a few polling stations out of a total of 13,034," Tito said. Sunday was the final day of submission for the reports, which KPUD will assess ahead of voting day on Wednesday. The commission will partner with a private accountants office to probe whether or not the campaigns used funds lawfully. "We would have waited until 6 p.m. [on Sunday], but the candidate pairs submitted their reports by 3 p.m. If the pairs failed to submit their reports, their candidacies might have been deemed illegitimate," KPUD commissioner Betty Epsilon Idroos said. Incumbent pair Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat stated on their submitted report that they received Rp 27.8 billion ($12.79 million) of campaign funds from public donations. Added with funds donated from the first round of the gubernatorial election, which ended on Feb. 15, the incumbent pair received nearly Rp 32.4 billion. "We have just submitted the documents on the expenses and income for the second round of the gubernatorial campaign to KPUD Jakarta," Ahok-Djarot campaign treasurer Michael Sianipar said. "We found that around Rp 103 million of donations we received were not included in any [fund submission] forms. We cannot verify the identity of the donors, so those funds will most likely be declared as illegitimate," Michael said. "We are handing the issue over to KPUD." The campaign team might be instructed to return those funds to the state treasury if KPUD finds the donations unlawful. The Ahok-Djarot campaign team spent a total of Rp 32 billion. Meanwhile, gubernatorial candidate pair Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno spent only Rp 17.9 billion during the campaign period ahead of the second round of voting. Most of those funds, however, came from Sandiaga's personal savings. The official campaign period ended on April 15 and Jakarta residents will cast their final ballots on April 19.
