The Philippines’ chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or Asean, this year coincides with the 50th anniversary of the organization. Founded in 1967, Asean now has the world’s seventh-largest market and third-largest labor force, and has been projected to become the fourth-largest economic bloc by 2030.

On Aug. 2-8, Asean foreign ministers meet in Manila, the Philippines, to attend the 50th Asean Regional Forum meeting and to celebrate the historic milestone, which has been dubbed "Asean@50."
