Alibaba Launches Mobile Marketing Platform UC Ads in Indonesia i

Jakarta. E-commerce giant Alibaba has introduced a mobile marketing platform called UC Ads in Indonesia, providing content marketing solutions for large companies and small-medium enterprises in the archipelago, the Chinese company said in a statement on Thursday (12/10).

UC Ads, powered by Chinese mobile internet company UCWeb, is designed to make use of "insight" garnered from its mobile users to deliver "accurate and precise" ad targeting for its partners. The Chinese company said clients of UC Ads will be connected to internet users from all over the globe.

Citing eMarketer's March data, Alibaba said the number of mobile phone users in Indonesia is expected to keep growing rapidly — by 7.4 percent to 173.3 million by the end of 2017, of which 67.1 million will use smartphones.

According to the data, there were 161.4 million mobile phone users in Indonesia by the end of 2016.

"Indonesia has a large population and advertising marketing in this country has strong potential for growth. With an intelligent content marketing solution, UC Ads can help businesses in Indonesia to improve brand exposure, app download, product reputation, sales promotion and customer acquisition," Kenny Ye, the general manager of overseas business at Alibaba Mobile Business Group, said in the statement.

"UC Ads is designed to analyze big data to find out potential consumers for advertisers, then deliver ads to the target audience. For small-medium enterprises, we offer cost-effective mobile marketing to grow their businesses which will also contribute to the growth of the nation’s economy," Ye added.

The Chinese company also cited data from the Co-operatives and Small-Medium Enterprises Ministry, which showed that in 2016 there were nearly 60 million small-medium enterprises in Indonesia. This, according to Ye, "provides ample opportunity" for mobile content marketing.

In Indonesia, UC Ads will be targeting the education, finance, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), e-commerce, gaming, tourism, entertainment, IT and 3C (computers, communication and consumer electronics) sectors and small-medium enterprises looking for cost-effective mobile marketing.

Clients of UC Ads can also leverage the huge user base of the UC Browser, which has 430 million monthly active users globally, 100 million monthly active users in India and Indonesia of its UC News site and 250 million monthly active users worldwide of its application download platform 9Apps.

“UC Ads is committed to be an intelligent mobile marketing partner for Indonesian enterprises. We take security and privacy very seriously and work hard to comply with local regulations. It is standard industry practice now to collect user information and data to provide users with better services. We ask for necessary authorization from users to collect data and have strong measures in place to encrypt them," Ye said.
