Jakarta. Walter Jones, known for his role as Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger on television series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," will attend culture festival Popcon Asia at the Jakarta Convention Center on Aug. 5-6.
Walter will be joined by Yoshi and Peter Sudarso, who also play rangers in the show.
Popcon Asia co-founder and event director Grace Kusnadi said in a statement released on Thursday (13/07) that the presence of three of the show's stars should draw larger crowds to the festival, especially for Power Ranger fans.
"Popcon Asia 2017 wants to show its audiences that international pop culture stars will be coming to the event to meet them. Power Rangers is one of the most legendary superhero icons of its time, so it’s not impossible for us to bring more pop stars to future events," Grace said.
She added that the two-day event will provide a space for pop culture artists to showcase their work.
“Indonesia has a huge market for pop culture and creative industries. Popcon Asia is ready to assist the government, companies and other stakeholders who want to help develop pop culture in the country."
Popcon Asia 2017 has partnered with comic workshop Akademi Samali, events guide Spektakel.id and the Indonesian Game Association to host the Popcon Awards to showcase the work of local creators.
The awards will be given out to the best creators working in comic, video and 2D game designs, while all 15 nominees – five in each category – will be present during the event.
Other creative competitions to be showcased at the festival include a make up contest, the SHF x Popcon Asia toy photography competition, Jouchaku challenge and cosplay battles.
Single day-pass tickets start at Rp 95,000 ($7.12), while two-day passes can be purchased for Rp 170,000.
